How to Opt Out of Gemini AI Data Collection (Google)
Opt out of AI services use of your personal information for future training data.
Google's Gemini AI assistant keeps activity records and personalizes responses based on your past conversations by default. Through the Gemini Privacy Hub and your Google account settings, you can review what is being stored, manage how it is used, and limit data collection going forward. This 2026 guide covers the main controls available, what they do, and what to watch for.
Why this matters. Consumer AI products use chats, posts, and account data to train models by default. Once your information is included in a training run, it cannot be removed retroactively. The earlier you opt out, the more of your data stays out. Priwall by mePrism tracks every major AI opt-out so you can act before, not after.
Why opt out of Gemini AI data collection?
Gemini activity is tied to your Google account, which already aggregates search history, location, and more. By default Google may save your prompts, Gemini's responses, voice and screen-share content during those features, data used to personalize replies, and information from connected apps. Reviewing and limiting Gemini activity reduces the amount of information stored against your Google identity and lessens what feeds back into personalization for you and others.

Tired of chasing AI privacy settings?
Priwall by mePrism finds your AI opt-out controls across major platforms, helps you turn them off, and monitors for changes — so a single policy update doesn't silently re-expose your data.
What to expect after opting out
Turning off Keep Activity stops new Gemini conversations from being saved to your account. Past activity remains until you delete it, and Gemini will continue to function — you'll just lose personalization that depends on saved history. Other Google services (Search, Maps, etc.) are governed by their own activity controls, so this opt-out is specific to Gemini. Temporary Chat sessions, when available, are not saved to your account and won't appear in your activity panel.
Frequently asked questions
Does turning off Keep Activity stop personalization?
Yes, for new sessions. Past saved data may still influence personalization until you delete it from the activity panel.
Does this affect other Google services?
No. Search, Maps, and other Google services have their own activity controls. Manage them separately.
Are voice and screen recordings affected?
Voice and screen-share content collected during Gemini sessions is governed by the same activity settings; turn off Keep Activity to stop saving them.
Will Gemini still work if I turn off saving?
Yes. Gemini continues to function normally — the difference is that conversations are not retained against your account.
How do I check connected apps?
In Gemini Settings, look for the Connected apps or Extensions area and disconnect any third-party app you no longer use.
