Who is mePrism? +
mePrism is a California-based technology and consumer advocacy company founded in 2019. We believe privacy and security are fundamental human rights. Our mission is to help people take back control of their online personal information and level the playing field in the online data marketplace.
How does mePrism work? +
When you sign up, mePrism immediately begins removing your leaked personal information from dozens of websites, including major data brokers and people search sites. We also provide social media privacy controls for Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube to prevent your data from being tracked and sold.
Why do I need an ongoing subscription? +
Data brokers constantly scrape the internet, so your data may resurface if you don't maintain active monitoring. New brokers also emerge regularly. Our continuous subscription ensures we catch these re-appearances and new threats instantly, keeping your privacy shield intact.
Does mePrism offer a refund if I cancel my subscription? +
You can cancel your mePrism Privacy subscription at any time. We offer prorated refunds on all annual subscriptions.
How do I monitor my data removal progress? +
You can track your deletion progress directly on our web app or mobile app. We show the removal status of each data broker that has exposed your information and send monthly summary reports.
How long does it take to remove my information? +
You will begin to see removal results within 48 hours for some data broker websites, while others may take weeks to remove. Stubborn sites may ask for additional information and require us to follow up with them.
Can you remove me from the internet completely? +
No. Privacy is an ongoing battle. We can reduce your online presence by removing your private information from Google search results and preventing social media companies from selling your data, but mePrism cannot completely remove you from the internet. We do not remove passwords from sites such as your shopping sites or your bank account. We also do not remove media or blogs about you.
How can I remove my data from people search sites? +
You can manually follow opt-out guides for each broker, though results may take 48 hours to 45 days and are often temporary. Data brokers frequently republish records. mePrism provides continuous automated monitoring that detects resurfaced data and immediately submits new removal requests.
How does mePrism protect my data? +
All data you provide is encrypted using industry standard protocols approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. We use the same encryption standards as banks and governments. We do not sell your data and are not affiliated with data brokers. mePrism is SOC2 compliant.
Why does mePrism need my personal information? +
Your information allows us to locate exposed records accurately. Additional details like previous addresses or alternative names help us identify outdated or hidden profiles and avoid false matches.
Why do I need to sign an authorization form? +
Written consent allows us to act as your authorized privacy agent under laws such as CCPA, VCDPA, and UCPA. This authorization is limited solely to removing your personal data from people search sites.
What are mePrism’s social media privacy controls? +
Our controls allow you to manage privacy settings for Google, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X in one place. We stop these platforms from collecting and selling your data while preserving your experience.
Why do I need to sign into my social media accounts? +
Login is required to change privacy settings directly within each platform. mePrism does not store your credentials.
How do data brokers get my information? +
Data brokers scrape public records, social media platforms, and Google search results. They compile details such as addresses, phone numbers, emails, relatives, and ages into profiles that are published and resold online.
